Eshraqa - Khimji Ramdas Social Development Arm celebrated Earth Hour, on March 25th by turning off all non-essential electrical lights at Khimji Ramdas Head Office, Muscat for one hour from 8:30 - 9:30PM. For Eshraqa, whose activities are devoted to developing local communities under the pillars of Education, Community and Health, the solemn event echoes its commitment towards creating a more environment conscious society and country.
Nailesh Khimji, Director at Khimji Ramdas said, "At Eshraqa we are deeply committed to initiatives that help spread awareness on conserving the environment and protecting finite, natural resources. This is reflected in the events that we support and often participate in; we have been regular participants in the global objectives of Earth Hour and help to spread its message to communities and corporates across Oman. Each year, we have joined the crusade to switch off all non-essential lights for one hour in an effort to save electricity. The occasion is also one of solemnity and solidarity as it unites people for the cause of the environment."
Coordinated by the WWF and other volunteer organisations, Earth Hour aims to shine the light on the need for action on climate change. Around the globe, millions of people, businesses, and landmarks set aside an hour to host events, switch off their lights, and make noise for climate change action. Each year, millions of people come together to make Earth Hour happen.
