Eshraqa, Khimji Ramdas’s social development arm, and Nikon recently conducted photography workshop for students of schools in the Al Dhahira Governorate, comprising the wilayats of Ibri, Yankul and Dhank. The workshop, which was held under the aegis of the Directorate General of the Al Dhahira Governorate, forms part of Khimji Ramdas’s core CSR philosophy to develop the talent of Omani youth around the Sultanate and encourage them to pursue careers in line with their individual interests.
Commenting on the event, Nailesh Khimji, Director at Khimji Ramdas said, “One of our foundation pillars under Eshraqa is developing the youth community in Oman and providing opportunities for them to make successful contributions to the economy. The aim of this workshop is to encourage young, budding photographers at the school level, who could – with proper guidance and training – be motivated to take up photography as a vocation.”
The entire program combines a contest and training sessions for participants. The workshop included three hours of training each day for between 100 and 150 students in Ibri. The first schedule of training was for students of grades five through eight and the latter was for Grades nine through twelve. The photography contest for Grades five to eight and nine to twelve will be conducted at a later date in April.
Nikon and Eshraqa will award five winners of each category with cameras including a DSLR and Cross pens along with certificates.
