Celebrating its successful development of youth as future leaders following a rigorous international learning journey, Khimji Ramdas (KR) held a ceremony to honour 42 graduates of its Management Trainee Programme for Omani nationals at the Hormuz Grand Hotel in Muscat. Following an event held under the auspices of His Excellency Abdullah bin Nasser Al Bakri, Minister of Manpower, KR’s 14th batch of trainees were formally inducted as the latest recruits of the KR Group, having been selected for participation from an application pool of over 1,300 graduates.

KR’s latest batch of trainees completed a four month learning journey in Oman under the Training Initiative for Nationals (TIN), delivered in partnership with Khimji Training Institute (KTI) before travelling to Kuala Lumpur for their three weeks of intensive residential training. During their 21 days in Malaysia participants focused on critical topics including stress management, leadership, performance development, and outbound training processes. Upon concluding their training in the Far East, KR’s trainees returned to Muscat and commenced work in their new roles on 10th December 2018.

In a highly empowering speech at the ceremony, Pankaj Khimji, Director, Khimji Ramdas, said “On behalf of the KR Family I extend our heartiest congratulations to our new recruits for their dedication and success in our Management Trainee Programme. As a business KR’s illustrious journey was built upon decades of hard work to deliver on the values of Trust, Care, and Commitment towards local people. Today, we have the privilege of investing in local talent and celebrating their success as we work towards the realization of a competitive national workforce in Oman with this latest batch of qualified professionals joining our ranks as future leaders of the KR Group”.

Pankaj Khimji encouraged KR’s new employees to be multi-faceted in their approach to work and emphasized how learning and attitude comprise two of the most important assets that would shape their future careers. The cost of KR’s Management Trainee Programme, including all travel, training, and accommodation, was fully funded by the firm as an investment intended to prepare a strong pool of local talent for future leadership roles.

He added, “Our programme has proven highly competitive over the years with many promising applicants vying for position in our programme as aspiring young professionals. In-line with the national agenda we take great pride in conducting this initiative with a view to deliver In-Country Value through a strategic approach to recruiting the very best of local talent. We wish our new joiners the very best in their careers”.

Participants of the programme also earned a formal accreditation from the United Kingdom’s vocational training institute ‘City & Guilds’ in collaboration with Oman’s Ministry of Manpower. Entitled ‘Principles of Business Administration’, the course delivers a range of critical components to ensure trainees’ deliver across a comprehensive range of core proficiencies, including professional ethics, health and safety, English language for business, numeracy, information technology, analytical, thinking and reasoning skills, problem solving, and decision-making.

Khimji Ramdas’ Management Trainee Programme was launched almost a decade ago to help empower talented Omani youth with Bachelor’s Degree and Diploma qualifications. To date, 159 trainees, including 73 females, have successfully benefited from the programme as a career launch-pad. The Group has also trained more than 130 existing employees with great potential in India and Malaysia over the past 18 years to make them future ready.
