Muscat, 6 August 2018: In its commitment to youth development and building a strong cadre of future leaders in the Sultanate, Khimji Ramdas (KR) recently launched the latest edition of its Management Trainee Programme for Omani nationals. The recruitment drive witnessed fierce competition receiving more than 1,300 applications, from which 42 were selected to undergo four months of training in Oman followed by one month in Malaysia. After training, inductees will be placed within the Khimji Ramdas Groupsnamely Consumer Products, Infrastructure, Projects and Logistics and Lifestyle.
In his welcome speech,Pankaj Khimji, Director of Khimji Ramdas, encouraged trainees to strive for excellence as they prepare to join mainstream businesses. During this address he introduced them to KR’s foundational valuesof care and trust, before elaborating on the importance of continued learning with a view to develop a multifaceted outlook and competitive knowledgebase.
He said, “KR’s Management Trainee Programme for Omani nationals is an important aspect of our recruitment strategy for the business as well as a key contribution to the development of the national workforce. As a people-centric organisation we truly love to enrich the ‘KR family’ each year with motivated youth who are then trained to gain professional skills and attitudescapable of fueling our continued growth in the market”.
Participating youth are set to earn formal accreditations from the UK-based globally leading skill development organisation ‘City & Guilds’, in addition to a qualification from Oman’s Ministry of Manpower. Entitled’Principles of Business Administration’, the course imparts a range of critical learning to ensure trainees hone a comprehensive range of core proficiencies, including professional ethics, health and safety, English language for business, numeracy, information technology, analytical thinking and reasoning skills, business management,problem solving, and decision-making.

Khimji Ramdas’ Management Trainee Programme for Omani nationals has been running for 11 years with hundreds ofprofessionals having now graduated and joined the group. The programme is held annually with the current cadre of local talent expected to undertake theirnew roles in December 2018.
The Management Training programme is a frontrunner in developing the youth as leaders of tomorrow. Following their induction to the KR Group the experience attained by graduates of the programme will be enriched through continued investments in learning and professional development with a view to establishing today’s youth as future specialists in the Omani market.
