Oman’s first synthetic walkway created in Ruwi

Overview

In addition to its many beaches, waterfront promenades, public parks and various sports complexes and fitness facilities, the Muscat Municipality felt that public facilities for fitness were needed in easily accessible areas where there was no provision to create a park.

Solution

The first synthetic walkway in Muscat and indeed in Oman, was conceived as a pilot project by Muscat Municipality and the Khimji Ramdas Sports & Fitness team. The Stockmeier Urethanes (Germany) Stobitan P, synthetic jogging/cycling track system was chosen without a concrete sub-base as this was extremely cost efficient.

Result

The track has been in use and is proving to be weather resistant

Conclusion

The client was extremely satisfied with the work and has given approvals for similar walkways elsewhere in the city.
